Sine

sin(x)

Definition

The sine function returns the sine of a number. The sine function is a function of an angle. Specifically, the sine of an acute angle in a right triangle, is defined as: the ratio of the length of the side opposite to that angle, to the hypotenuse of the triangle. More simply:
sin(θ)=OppositeHypotenuse\sin(\theta)=\frac{Opposite}{Hypotenuse}
